# What Is the AppDesigner?
The ELCO AppDesigner is a web application that can be used to easily create apps without any programming knowledge. With apps, you can monitor and control all kinds of IoT devices, from a small temperature sensor in your garden to a machine in a giant production hall.
# Creating Apps
You can see the user interface of the AppDesigner in the screenshot above. Apps are created by adding widgets to the user interface. Widgets are small user interface components such as texts, buttons or images. A preview of the current state of your app is always shown in the preview window on the right.
# Deploying Apps in Seconds
As soon as your app is complete, you can deploy it on your Android or iOS smartphone in seconds, only by scanning a QR code with the ELCO AppHub. But more details on deploying the app later. Before that, let's create your first app in the next step!
