Licensing

To run an IoTHub you need a license. This comes either as a USB dongle (preferred way) or as a software license which is bound to your hardware. To make your license you bought from us available to the IoTHub you need to install the Sentinel Runtime on you machine. Sentinel Runtime does all the license handling and provides an endpoint to the IoTHub to claim your license.

WARNING

The runtime and the license have to be present permanently while running an IoTHub instance. Otherwise, the IoTHub will shutdown itself after a short period of time.
